crossposts.

mostly to get a little content up, i have not yet been in the mood to take note of my happenings, so here is something i posted september 25th on the space forever ago.

i want better human/computer interface devices, think of the minority report gloves. we have been using the pointer and keyboard for long enough. touchpad, trackball, and lasermice all preform the same function; one reticule + one handed movement. i don’t support multitouch on a cellular device, but perhaps we could see a pointing device that has >2 reticules available. we need to be using computers in the third dimension too. we have the technology, and maybe with a total of four axis we will be able to better use our minds to interface with a machine and it’s software. (think two joysticks and fps games) the wiimote and nunchuck proved that the hands don’t need to be next to each other to control a two dimensional gui.
keyboards are pretty backwards too. the design used now was intended for type writers that would get type arms stuck due to an absence of springs. the arm would not retract fast enough and without the money to buy tiny little springs the original designer fixed the flaw with the now standard qwerty. since then the type writer has improved to the word processor and still people use an obsolete qwerty. aside from that multiple keys is a hassle, perhaps something like a double handed t9 input device would be appropriate, or tiny redesigned keyboards like on phones.
